MARRAKECH, CAPITAL OF AFRICAN GASTRONOMY

Recently, Marrakech witnessed a double culinary triumph for Morocco. During the Bocuse d’Or Africa 2024, Morocco won the prestigious competition, confirming its gastronomic talent on the international scene. This unmissable event on the international culinary calendar, organized as part of the Official Africa Chefs Tournament (TOC Africa), brought together the greatest talents on the continent.
After a competition lasting more than 5h30, it was the Moroccan team composed of Yassine Bogdad, Youssef Lamghani, Ahmed Ben Semlali and led by chef Moha Fedal who won this prize, for the second time after 2018. Mauritius and Egypt complete the podium. This tough competition tested their mastery of African culinary techniques, combined with international standards of presentation.
“The Moroccans were able to rise to the challenge. A very nice demonstration. Lots of finesse,” said Davy Tissot, winner of the Bocuse d’Or Monde 2023 and president of the Bocuse d’Or Africa 2024 International Jury.
The winners of the Bocuse d’Or Africa and the African Pastry Cup will represent their countries at the grand finale, which will be held at the prestigious SIRHA show in Lyon in 2025. Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, TOC Afrique is more than just a culinary competition, it is above all a celebration of African gastronomic heritage!
